The June Communion services will take place on Sunday, June 16. Normally, Communion is a part of the worship service at Peace UMC on the first Sunday of the month. Hopefully this does not inconvenience anyone too greatly.
Please let Joanne know if you would be available to help serve Communion at either the 8:45 or 11 a.m. service on June 16.
During Annual Conference 2013, in a partnership ministry of the NC Conference United Methodist Women, Church and Society, and the Mission Team, UMCOR Birthing Kits will be collected. Every 90 seconds a woman somewhere in the world dies from complications during pregnancy or childbirth. 356,000 women die every year, most of the deaths occurring in the developing world. Annually, 4 million infants die within a month of being born. When a mother dies, it dramatically increases the risk of death for her baby. Birthing kits provide the essential items to promote a safe, clean delivery and to encourage good after care. Using a birthing kit can double a woman’s chance of surviving the birth.
The Women’s Covenant Group is asking Peace members to donate hotel-size soaps and new receiving blankets, about 30″x 30″ in size – the blankets must not be thermal or fleece- to put in birthing kits, as well as $1 for mailing. The Covenant Group will add the other needed items to each kit. Please bring your items to church by May 26th so that there is time to assemble them before Annual Conference.

Please contact the front office if you can help serve Communion on Sunday, May 5. We need two people to assist at each worship service (8:45 and 11 a.m.). There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the Narthex if you would like to sign up when you are next at church.
Why not bring a book or two to share the next time you come to church? John Welty built a little library for the Narthex. You are encouraged to bring one or two books to share with others. Selections need not be religious, but should be appropriate for anyone to look at. Popular categories of books include fiction, biography, history, children’s and young adult. We hope to fill the shelves soon. Come by and check it out.

Get your tickets for the Peace Youth outing to the Milwaukee Bucks game on March 24 against the Atlanta Hawks. All are welcome to attend. Tickets are $33 and we will get to be a part of the high five tunnel and shoot free throws after the game.
Tickets are available in the the high school room between services both this Sunday and next. We will carpool from church at 12:30 p.m. on March 24. See Christian Dennik if you have questions.
For more than 50 years, United Methodist congregations have been taking part in a special One Great Hour of Sharing offering, laying the foundation for United Methodist Committee On Relief’s (UMCOR) ministry of relief and hope.
Donations UMCOR receives through this offering, along with other undesignated gifts made throughout the year, covers all the administrative costs of doing business. They make it possible for UMCOR to use 100% of all other contributions on the projects our donors specify, instead of on administrative or fundraising costs. Please give generously in the special offering envelopes in this Sunday’s (March 10th) bulletin.
